The Culinary and Hospitality Academy hosted their inaugural Chefs Table event in April this year – run entirely by their first-year students, proving their passion and talent in the kitchen.

The Bloemfontein-based Culinary and Hospitality Academy offers its stellar students access to an affordable education with internationally recognised qualifications. This was proven in 2021 when their first-year students cooked for their first-ever Chefs Table Gala Dinner.

Taking place from five till late, the event saw guests enjoys a seven-course fine-dining meal! The students catered to roughly 60-80 dinner guests and kept to strict COVID protocols, and all this took place only one week after CHA’s annual graduation ceremony.

“At Culinary and Hospitality Academy, we do not just teach you how to cook but we also teach entrepreneurship, good leadership and management skills to make it possible for you to run your own business,” the team says.

Another example of the practical way in which they teach these skills is through their online bakery. Here, visitors to the website can order biscuits, tarts, cupcakes or cheesecakes in bulk (e.g. R150 for 5L of shortbread). The academy also hosts edutainment nights, has various holiday specials, and other ways in which students can learn and interact in a warm, exciting and fun environment.
