The Juliet Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival has recognised talent and will be showcasing the finest wineries our country has to offer.
This Festival connects you to the world of vinicultural craftmanship when Summer Place becomes the centre of attention on the 4th & 5th June.
With a solid 19 years of sponsorship support from Standard Bank, the Juliet Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival is host to the most inspiring and uncompromising collection. Drawing together winemakers from every corner of the country, it is designed for both professionals and enthusiasts – an official guide to the leaders of our time.
It’s a small personal show, with elite boutique wineries offering limited release wines. Its reputation has been built on a solid foundation of continuity, celebration and commitment: to offer the very best experience for both the winery and the taster.
To be held again at Summer Place, with its Georgian colonnades, Versailles-like fountains and ballrooms with creamy silk drapes, the 2019 festival is rich in pleasure and discoveries that will surprise and enchant. This year you will find the winemakers in the essence of contemporary chic in our tailored marquee.
The ballroom will be host to a variety of wine tasting masterclasses – suitable for both the wine enthusiast and the connoisseur, for fun or facts.
We have the finest of Cape Wine Masters on hand to share their wealth of knowledge and a possible Sabrage – (slicing off the neck of a bubbly bottle) for those in search of a thrill.
Steve Steinfeld of The Joburg Foodie’s Seriously Good Wine Society will host a layman’s masterclass on delicious bubbles. A somewhat, self-confessed, Sabrage obsessive, Steve may even end the class with a celebratory bottle opening!
In addition, there will be a Salt Tasting, enabling us to experience wines in a novel way as well as “Tour de France” by Herve Delabesse of Premier Cru Wines who will lead you on a tasting of wines from distinguished cellars in France. There will be a 18h30 and 20h00 Masterclass, each for 30 minutes at a cost of R50.
Bookings are on a first come first served basis, contact herve@premiercru.co.za .
Life-long friendships are forged as connoisseurs and oenophiles return each year to the Juliet Cullinan Standard Bank Wine Festival to chat to experts and individual winemakers who share their knowledge with enthusiasm.
