The SA Chefs Association and Chefpreneurs are assisting food SMMEs overcome the economic downturn as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Criteria for funding:
Each application for funding is assessed in terms of the following criteria. Beneficiaries must be:
- Members of the South African Chefs Association and should comprise 100% South African citizens.
- Operate business within the borders of South Africa.
- Adequately be involved in the day-to-day operation and management of the business with at least one of the members being a full-time employee of the business, especially the main applicant.
- Have relevant qualifications or business and/or technical experience, including proven entrepreneurship business experience where applicable.
- Able to motivate their business idea and support needed.
- Operating either informally or formally; generally recognised as micro enterprises (eg. street traders, vendors, emerging enterprises.
- Having a profit motive and are commercially viable and sustainable. Individual entity must have a bank account.
- Co-operatives must have or be willing to form a group of minimum 5 persons.
- Out of employment/unemployed.
Funding available
The SA Chef Association and Chefpreneurs will be issuing funding of not less than R1 000 and not more than R10 000 for individuals and companies. The following thresholds apply:
- Threshold 1: Idea generation and survivalist (start-ups)
- Threshold 2: Start-ups PTY and co-operatives
- Threshold 3: Growth stage PTY and co-operatives
