Calling All Bubbly Lovers: It’s The Cap Classique Garden Party

While many people will be disappointed with the news that the much-looked-forward-to Franschhoek Cap Classique & Champagne Festival has been postponed to 2021, there is a bubbly event taking place in early December that is guaranteed to bring cheer to the MCC lovers in the Western Cape.

It’s The Cap Classique Garden Party, which will be held on the sprawling lawns of the exquisite Plaisir de Merle Wine Estate on the weekend of December 5 & 6, from 11:00 to 16:00.

Says organiser Darielle Robertson of DnA Events & Festivals: “While we are saddened to not be able to hold our annual Cap Classique & Champagne Festival, due to the Covid-19 restrictions on numbers, we are very pleased to bring bubbly lovers an elegant garden party, in a beautiful venue, complete with delicious food, live music and, of course, some of the country’s best Cap Classiques.”

Guests will get to drink the best bubbly from seven MCC producers who will be in attendance. They are (in alphabetical order):

Graham Beck
House of Bonang
Krone
L’Ormarins
Plaisir de Merle
Pongracz

Tickets are R1,250 per person and include a souvenir crystal Champagne flute; a glass of award-winning Plaisir de Merle MCC on arrival; a glass of bubbly from each of the seven attending Cap Classique producers; a plate of four oysters for starters; the choice of a grazing platter, gourmet salad or sliders for mains; artisanal ice-cream or sorbet for dessert; a gift from Secret Skin Therapy (valued at R250); live music; a pop-up tasting corner; the opportunity to mingle with the winemakers; and the chance to buy bubbly – and stock up for the festive season – with free delivery on all orders over six bottles.

“Guests will get great value for their money as they will receive a beautiful crystal champagne glass on arrival, enjoy eight glasses of fabulous bubbly, snack on great food, listen to live music and be given a very special gift from Secret Skin Therapy worth R250,” says Robertson.

“It’s the perfect way to kick off the festive season but, because of lockdown regulations, tickets are limited to 250 per day and we cannot make exceptions. So bubbly lovers are going to have to be quick if they don’t want to lose out.”
