A career in food may change your life!
Looking for a job locally or globally? What should you study to have the best chance of employment after you’ve completed your course?
One field that is proving to be a good career choice is the culinary, service and hospitality industries. With tourism, numbers continuing to increase year-on-year and new hotels and restaurants opening their doors monthly – not just in South Africa but all over the world – all indications are that these industries’ positive trajectory will continue well into the future.
South Africa’s largest chef school, Capsicum Culinary Studio, will be hosting an Open Day at all its six campuses countrywide on Saturday, January 25, 2020, from 9:00 until 14:00.
Those who attend the Open Day can interact with the schools’ talented chef lecturers, who are leaders in the culinary field, as well as chat to expert advisors who will assist in making their hospitality dreams come true. There is also a range of demonstrations and talks planned.
Capsicum Culinary Studio is the largest chef school of its kind in South Africa with six campuses throughout the country and successful graduates who work around the world. Capsicum has branches in Boksburg, Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Pretoria which collectively maintain a 95% pass rate. It also has more local and international accreditations and associations than most chef training institutes in South Africa.
Qualifications on offer include the three-year chef programme; eight-month Fundamental Chef Programme; the year-long Food and Beverage Programme and the hugely popular one-year patisserie programme.
Capsicum Culinary Studio courses are internationally recognised and the school works with CATHSSETA, QCTO, City & Guilds, the American Hospitality Academy to ensure that their alumni have made their mark throughout the world.
Capsicum Culinary Studio also partners with the renowned Business & Hotel Management School (BHMS) in Lucerne, Switzerland, which allows for the exchange of teaching and professional experiences between both schools.
Students who have successfully completed the three-year Level 6 QCTO Occupational Certificate: Chef at Capsicum will be given direct entry to the final year of the BA degree in Culinary Arts at BHMS. Students who have successfully completed the City & Guilds IVQ Level 2 Diploma in Food Preparation and Cooking at Capsicum will be eligible to transfer to the Higher Diploma in Culinary Arts followed by the BA Degree in Culinary Arts at BHMS.
Capsicum students will be assured a paid internship in Switzerland or abroad and international work placement assistance after completing their BA degree.
In the 16 years since it was first established, Capsicum Culinary Studio has produced more than 6 000 alumni who are now working all over the world and who have established themselves as leaders within various markets.
