Worldchefs has two challenges that SA Chefs members can get behind and be part of.
The Food Waste Challenge is designed for foodservice operators – restauranteurs, chefs and cooks – to learn about how to reduce food waste in kitchens. Participants will receive training, progress tracking, and benchmarking with other restaurants around the world.
For more information or to join, visit www.feedtheplanet.worldchefs.org/fwc.
The Food Heroes Challenge aims to raise awareness of sustainable eating for 30 000 children by the end of 2019. Chefs around the world are encouraged to organise workshops for children in their local communities from April 2019 onwards using a ready-made toolkit from Worldchefs.
The kit includes a ready-to-use lesson plan for a 70-minute workshop designed for children between the ages of 8-12. It includes lesson structure, activities, posters, videos and other supporting material, such as a template for a certificate of completion, which ultimately makes every child participant a food hero.
