The Cannabis Expo is rapidly expanding and about to hit SA’s financial district hard
Johannesburg, South Africa: It’s official; The Cannabis Expo is the fastest-selling and fastest-growing expo of any kind in South Africa. Since inception in December 2018, The Cannabis Expo has rapidly expanded from 52 exhibitor stands at its first expo in Menlyn, to over 200 exhibitor stands just a year later at the Sandton Convention Centre, booked for November 2019.
“The first expo sold out within just a few weeks”, says expo organizer and SA expo veteran, Silas Howarth. “We have been in the expo industry for nearly 20 years, and have never seen such rapid growth, this is completely unprecedented and just shows how big and how exciting the cannabis industry really is.”
The Cannabis Expo has already had three hugely successful expos in Menlyn, Cape Town and Durban, with record attendance of tens of thousands, and is now preparing for its largest expo yet set for the Sandton Convention Centre from 28 November to 1 December 2019.
“75% of the exhibitor stands are already booked for the Sandton expo and we are still 4 months away. We will sell out soon – this just does not happen in the expo industry,” says Howarth. “We have had a waiting list of exhibitors after selling out the first expo, and over 95% of the exhibitors return to book for the next one, clearly illustrating how well it works for everyone.”
Incorporating the entire cannabis industry, from the health, agriculture, lifestyle, legislation and business aspects, The Cannabis Expo attracts industry experts, business leaders, budding entrepreneurs and interested consumers.
Cannabis business in Africa is booming, and many prominent international cannabis companies are represented at The Cannabis Expo, using it as a platform to capitalize on opportunities on the continent. Government departments from South Africa and neighbouring countries are also present, sending delegations, hosting talks and engaging with business leaders and the public around legislation and the opportunities that are available in their respective countries.
As well as attracting tens of thousands of consumers, The Cannabis Expo has a serious business-to-business, convention and conferencing focus over the 4 days. In Sandton, delegate passes are available for local and international industry delegates, and delegate lounge and meeting spaces are designated in prime areas of the venue. The Convention Stage is open to all visitors with talks aimed at educating the general public, and registered delegates will also have exclusive access to the Convention Hall, which will host Africa’s first truly comprehensive Cannabis Convention in a conference-style setting, with industry experts from around the world engaging with local delegates and industry stakeholders. A dedicated app will allow delegates and exhibitors to communicate with each other prior to the event, set up meetings and access the conferences, round-table workshops and speaker information.
