Smack Your Taste Buds With This Simple Smash Burger Recipe!

Try this delicious Mexican Smash Burger Recipe made from the OUMPH! Make Anything Mince.

Equipment: Gas griller or flat top

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking/setting time: 7-10 minutes

Cooking Temperature: Med/High

Ingredients: Smash Burger

  • Garlic (fresh and finely chopped) – 5g
  • Onions (grated) – 50g
  • Oumph! Make Anything Mince – 225g
  • Ground Cumin – 2.5 ml
  • Dried Oregano – 2.5 ml
  • Cayenne Pepper – 1/2 ml
  • Fresh Coriander (chopped) – 7.5 ml
  • Salt – 2.5 ml
  • Pepper – 1 ml

Ingredients: Mexican Slaw

  • Coleslaw premix with red cabbage – 900g
  • Jalapeno (finely chopped) – 150g
  • Fresh coriander, chopped – 180 ml
  • Brown sugar – 30g
  • Tinned black beans (drained and rinsed) – 360g
  • Sour cream – 1.2 litres
  • Tomatoes ( roughly chopped) – 600g
  • Red onion (roughly chopped) – 600g

Ingredients: Burger Sauce

  • Habanero Tabasco – 1 1/2 tsp
  • Tomato Sauce – 360 ml
  • BBQ Sauce – 180 ml

Ingredients: Guacamole

  • Avocados (diced) – 8
  • Lemon juice – 1
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Other ingredients

  • Buns – 4
  • Cheese – cut one cheese slice into 4 to fit
  • Tortilla Chips (crushed) – 1 bag

Method

  • Mix all the ingredients of the smash burger together
  • Measure out 45g meat balls
  • Cover and allow to rest for 10 minutes in fridge
  • Mix all the ingredients of the Mexican slaw and allow to stand for 10 minutes
  • Mix all the ingredients for the burger sauce
  • Mix all the ingredients for the guacamole until combined
  • On a hot pan with a little oil, smash the burger and allow to cook for 4 minutes.
  • Turn and cook the other sides, baste with the burger sauce and place into a chaffing dish to keep warm, top with cheese slices and allow to melt.

To Assemble:

Layer with generous amount of slaw, place the burger patty on top, smear a leveled tablespoon of guacamole and top with crushed tortilla chips.

Place skewer through to hold burger together. Serve on mini bamboo boats.
