South Africans reaching for bottled water this summer are being invited to look a little closer at shelves to spot new SANBWA neck-tag. The South African National Bottled Water Association has launched a nationwide campaign to remind consumers to look for the SANBWA logo on bottled water labels to identify safe, authentic bottled water and stand a chance to win in the process.
Each neck-tag features Blu, SANBWA’s friendly mascot, and a QR code that leads directly to a quick educational page and competition entry. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of buying SANBWA-approved water, which meet the highest safety and sustainability standards in South Africa.
Charlotte Metcalf, CEO of SANBWA, says: “Not all bottled water is created equal. Some brands skip essential checks, use unprotected sources or even fill bottles in unhygienic conditions. The SANBWA logo is your assurance that what you’re drinking is tested, traceable, and truly safe, from source to shelf.”
Consumers are reminded to look for:
- The SANBWA logo
- Clear water origin and visible production and expiry dates
- No false health claims or greenwashing
- Bottling in a certified food-safe facility
By choosing SANBWA-accredited brands, consumers not only protect their health but also support companies that save water and energy, use recyclable packaging and protect South Africa’s precious water sources.
To enter, simply scan the QR code on a SANBWA neck-tag and follow the steps online.
The competition closes 31 January 2026, with winners announced on 28 February 2026.
