Famous for its artisan cheeses, its wine, and well, its adorable goats and their residential Goat Tower, Fairview proudly took to the stage to receive a total of 11 SA Champ Awards at this year’s SA Dairy Championships – and an additional Qualité Award for their Woolworths Blue Pear
Fairview has built its reputation as a business that is rooted in family and heritage, and their ever-expanding range tells a story of how the business is growing and building on its current offering to meet changing customer and industry needs.
Charles Back, a third-generation family owner of Fairview, explains, “As a brand, we have always been sensitive to our customer requirements, and it is with great excitement that we can say our family is constantly growing. We are always innovating and at the moment we are welcoming a plant-based range into the Fairview family too. ”
The Fairview offering is becoming more inclusive, adding to its popular, well-known variety of cheeses and it showed at the SA Dairy championships. Just to name a few, they were awarded the SA champion for their Ripe and Ready Brie, Traditional Chevin and Brie de Roche.
Let’s get down to Qualité business. Their semi-soft, high-fat Blue Mould cheese – the Blue Pearl – originated its name from the Paarl Mountain and boasts with a sharp, matured, spicy flavour profile and creamy texture. Exclusively available at Woolworths and the Fairview deli.
Fairview has always been forward-thinking, hosting the first wine auction in South Africa in 1974, becoming the first goat’s cheese producer in the country, and pioneering the blue and white mould innovation. Fairview isn’t only focused on innovation though, believing that sustainability needs to be at the core of the business and they have gone to great lengths to ensure this.
“Our policy at Fairview is a closed circle of life – being rooted in family, community, and tradition. These roots sprout from our soil to animals, our products, and staff,” Charles Back.
